DOTI has often been selected as the Sole Source Supplier due to the accuracy of our polished
surfaces, our ability to machine multiple, accurate though-holes for mounting (and other
functions) and for our ability to meet the delivery requirements of our customers. DOTI was
the Sole Supplier of mirrors for the VERITAS Program at Mt. Wilson, AZ under the direction
of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory for and by the VERITAS' members.
This massive window (LEFT) is approximately 4 feet diagonal and over 2 inches thick. It is
manufactured from Corning #7980 UV Fused Silica. The window's major surfaces were
required to be flat to 2 angstroms per 12 inches. DOTI achieved better than 1/40 angstrom
per 6 inches, as tested, over much of the entire surface. The second surface was polished until
it bettered the specification by a substantial margin. Once DOTI was able to ensure the surface
far flatter than required we allowed polishing to cease. DOTI works in a variety of materials
including Fused Silica, ULE, Pyrex, BoroFloat, BK7, Starphire, and many other glasses.
• Scratch Dig Specification (80/50) was easily met.
• Edges are ground to a 40 angstrom finish, P-V.

This is a precision elliptical flat (RIGHT) that measures roughly 18"H X 26"W X 2"D, with
large elliptical central hole. It is for a sophisticated sensing (measuring and testing) application.
The customer required dimensional accuracy to .1mm and surface quality to 20/10 with
precision flat surface. DOTI was able to meet all the requirements of the customer including
schedule.

Pictured (LEFT) is a 62 inch diameter 36" R.O.C. convex glass substrate.
DOTI finished to a 5 angstrom or better surface. It is protected with a
removable coating giving it the dark appearance. This optic was bent,
ground, polished, and machined to size at DOTI.
DOTI manufactured these mirrors (LEFT) for the entertainment industry. These
mirrors are mounted to low cost holders DOTI manufactured to customer
specifications. DOTI provided expertise to the customer in the conceptual stages
to reach an approved backing format. DOTI also helped establish acceptable
parameters for optical performance, quality, and accuracy. DOTI aligned the
backers and mirrors to ensure accurate location of the image to the Design Eye
Point (DEP). DOTI would like to help you with your manufacturing, assembly,
and alignment needs.
DOTI custom cut this mirror (RIGHT) to a full circle with a smaller diameter circle
centered within +/-2mm. The glass was then bent, ground, and polished. This
mirror is coated with a Protective Aluminum coating designed to perform within a
set nanometer spectrum.

DOTI is well equipped to manufacture massive flat and curved pieces of glass. Pictured
(RIGHT) is a massive 395" R.O.C. mirror with dimensions 82"H X 58"W. This mirror was
manufactured for the purpose of solar testing.
