NEWS
DOTI develops capability to polish even thinner glass materials for lightweight simulation optics. DOTI has successfully completed polish on multiple prototypes for various simulation requirements. Successful polishing experiments were accomplished in aperture to thickness ratios as high as 140:1. Normal optical processes would be designed around a 6:1 ratio. DOTI has plans to test to greater than 200:1 starting with substrate of greater than 50" aperture. These flat and polished mirror surfaces are currently being integrated with our PERMA backing panels and used in flight simulation applications for reflection of projected collimated projector fold mirrors.
August 2008
DOTI agrees to purchase the entire grinding and polishing assets of Optical Products Development, a NY based optics manufacturing company. These large, customized machines will add new capacity at DOTI as well as to add new process features. The machines will be rigged out of their existing location, and will be integrated into DOTI processes in early 2009.
January 2009
DOTI becomes the only independent optics shop supplying massive collimating optics to simulation. DOTI's current capability is to manufacture optics to a 90+" aperture. DOTI is working with its customers, and evaluating opportunities to address increased manufacturing capacity. DOTI has only begun to explore this major shift in the flight simulation community with its customers. There will surely be additional news in early 2009.
July 2010
DOTI increases its manufacturing capacity with a new massive 110" draper and a massive 130" draper. With these two new machines in production, DOTI is able to increase productivity, efficiency, and reduce lead times.
January 2011
DOTI has designed and built its first prototype Collimator (WAC Window) utilizing a precision mirror, custom projection screen, and MIL-SPEC beam splitter. DOTI's second generation collimator is due to be launched at mid-2011. Check back for more details.
"CHANGING THE WORLD OF OPTICS"
June 2006
DOTI pioneers an ultra lightweight mirror product called PERMA. PERMA stands for Performance Enhanced Replacement of Mylar Applications. PERMA mirrors were developed as an improvement over Mylar mirrors which can stretch, sag, lose reflectivity, and quickly show signs of handling and use. PERMA mirrors employ a thin first surface mirror permanently bonded to a lightweight rigid panel. These lightweight panels include custom mounting points on either the backside or sides of the panel.
October 2007
DOTI improves the PERMA series of mirrors with the Ex-Pres PERMA. ExPres-PERMA stands for Extreme Precision PERMA mirror. The Ex-Pres PERMA mirror includes a DOTI high quality ground and polished mirror mounted on a lightweight rigid backer. These mirrors will work perfectly with extremely high resolution projection systems, and preserve the precision from your lens.
July 2009
DOTI includes bending acrylic to its service line. DOTI has been successful in bending acrylic as another option to glass.
June 2006
DOTI increases the LS3 product line with the option to laminate with acrylic. The LS3 product line is a great option for customers who are looking for quality optical components with the added benefit of structural strength and safety.
May 2011
Come visit Displays and Optical Technologies this year at Optifab, DOTI will be in booth #302. Located in Rochester, NY, Optifab is the number one optical fabrication event in North America. Optifab will be held May 9th - 12th.
April 2009
DOTI acquires an additional building to expand manufacturing capabilities. Located behind the main office building, this additional space will increase efficiency and allow DOTI to increase its capabilities in the future.
October 2011
DOTI introduces the second generation collimator to its line of products. With a large instantaneous field of view, 60 degrees HFOV and 31 degrees VFOV, this second generation design offers a wide range of uses for the simulation and gaming industries. Contact DOTI today for further information or visit our products page for more details.
December 2011
DOTI is proud to have been chosen to be Rockwell Collins' partner in optical manufacturing for its latest high brightness, resolution and contrast collimating display system. This system also supports wide eye point separation while maintaining the highest standards for display performance. DOTI is a supplier to the simulation market of the highest quality optical mirrors. DOTI strives to partner with the best systems providers in the industry and is proud to have been selected to assist Rockwell Collins as they expand their offerings in quality simulation products. We believe Rockwell Collins can look forward to strong market demand for this display system, and DOTI is prepared to support their manufacturing needs for optics.
